Food & Supplies

A sensible supply helps you get through several days calmly and in an organized way.

What a supply should do

During a longer power outage, supermarkets, card payments, cold chains and delivery routes may be limited. A simple supply helps bridge this period.

What matters is not a huge stockpile, but a sensible supply of shelf-stable foods that you actually use and can prepare with little effort.

Shelf-stable foods

Suitable examples include rice, pasta, oats, canned goods, legumes, shelf-stable bread, nuts, dried fruit and simple ready-to-eat meals.

Prepare without electricity

Plan foods that can be eaten cold or need only little energy to warm up. Also consider a safe camping stove if it is allowed and practical for you.

Use supplies regularly

A supply should not be forgotten for years. Use older products in everyday life and replace them with new ones in time.

Special needs

Think of children, older people, pets, allergies, intolerances and necessary special foods.

Simple supply checklist

  • Rice, pasta, oats or other staples
  • Canned vegetables, fish, meat or legumes
  • Nuts, dried fruit and simple snacks
  • Shelf-stable milk or plant-based alternatives
  • Food for children, pets or special diets
  • Manual can opener
  • Simple spices, salt and sugar
  • Garbage bags and simple cleaning supplies

Storage

Store supplies dry, cool, clean and clearly visible. Write down expiration dates if needed and check the supply regularly.
